Welcome!
Dear Parents:
Welcome to the next chapter in your child's academic career! I anticipate an enriching year ahead! Thank-you in advance for your patience, as the class and I get into the rhythm of learning.
Before we began, I would like to take this opportunity to share a little bit about myself. I am beyond blessed with a supportive family, a loveable (also insanely active 3+ years old!), and a career that has brought me much joy and hope for the present and future. In the 12+ years that I have taught, I have been privileged to witness the growth of my students and see them become successful professionals and contributors to their community. I embrace kindness, fairness, dedication, commitment, perseverance, and learning and do my best to model that in the classroom.
It is my hope that your child will accomplish their goals by building upon the skills they have acquired through:
- Growth Mindset
- Critical thinking in Reading, Writing, and Math daily
- Project-Based learning, including oral & visual presentations
- Independent, partner, and group work
- Organizing, processing, and studying from their interactive notebooks
- Participating in class simulations and/or integrating technology to enrich learning
- Useful homework Monday-Thursday and Friday, only if it is necessary.
In addition to academic instruction, I have high expectations for behavior both in and out of the classroom. The classroom credo will be "Show Kindness/Respect, Make Good Choices, and Solve Problems." As your child’s teacher, it is my goal to promote a sense of pride and trust through a positive learning environment. I further believe in establishing an open line of communication between parents, teachers, and students. By working together, we can have a positive impact and help your child reach their potential.
Please review the syllabus below for some basics about the class. At your earliest convenience, please fill out the Parent Survey and return it to me by the end of the first week of school.
In addition, if you are able to, the class would greatly appreciate donations of 35 single subject spiral notebooks or composition notebooks and Scotch Permanent Glue Sticks. Thank-you in advance for your generosity.
I look forward to the year ahead, as we work together to provide a memorable learning experience for your child!
With Warm Regards,
Ms. Luong
